Rosa Ree's Music Ban Lifted, But With Conditions ¶
On November 1, 2019, the Tanzanian music regulator, Barasa La Sanaa La Tanzania, imposed a six-month ban on Rosa Ree, the country's 'Goddess of rap', due to her explicit music video 'Vitamin U' featuring Timmy T Dat from Kenya.
However, on December 11, 2019, the board reconsidered its decision and granted Rosa Ree a conditional reprieve, allowing her to continue her music career, but with certain conditions.
According to a letter from Barasa, Rosa Ree must pay Tsh 2 million within a month, starting from December 6, 2019, as a fine for violating the music regulations.
Barasa also stated that Rosa Ree will be expected to be a 'true ambassador of ethical music' both within and outside Tanzania.
Rosa Ree expressed her gratitude on her Instagram page, thanking the Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Harrison Mwakyembe, and the Music Regulatory Board, BASATA, for allowing her to continue her music career.
Her fans congratulated her on her comeback, wishing her the best as she reinstates her brand.
