Published on December 11, 2019, recent events have sparked speculation about a potential political alliance between Deputy President William Ruto and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Photos released on social media show the two politicians in a friendly chat, fuelling speculation about their relationship.

Ukambani kingpin Johnstone Muthama has publicly endorsed Ruto as the best candidate to become the country's next president, stating, 'He (Ruto) is the best suited to lead the country in 2022,' according to Citizen.

Muthama, a close ally of Musyoka, has represented the Wiper leader's interests in several high-profile political meetings and dealings, including the formation of the CORD and NASA Coalitions in 2013 and 2017.

A potential pact between Ruto and Kalonzo would likely lead to a formal divorce between Kalonzo and ODM party leader Raila Odinga, who have been in a decade-long political marriage.

However, Odinga has recently warmed up to Governors Alfred Mutua and Charity Ngilu, who have well-documented political differences with Musyoka.
