AFC Leopards captain Soter Kayumba has denied reports of a two-year deal with Rwandese giants Rayon Sports, despite having a running contract with the Kenyan giants.

Published on December 11, 2019, Kayumba expressed his commitment to AFC Leopards, stating that he still has the club at heart and is hoping for a sponsorship deal soon.

“Rayon Sports Presda is my friend, but that does not mean that I have talked with him on joining them yet I have a contract with Leopards,” he said.

Kayumba, who last featured for Ingwe on November 10 in the 4-1 Mashemeji derby loss to arch rivals Gor Mahia, reiterated that Leopards’ hierarchy is aware of his decision as they work to secure a sponsorship deal.

According to Kayumba, life has not been easy for him in Nairobi without money, and he has decided to return to his homeland Rwanda if a sponsorship deal is not secured.

“I cannot blame Leopards bosses for the sorry state the club is facing right now, but as a player, I am also a married man with a family that is depending on me,” he said.

Leopards are currently in position eight with 17 points, eight behind leaders Gor Mahia, and are scheduled to clash with fourth-placed KCB this weekend at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.
