On Tuesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta's convoy was blocked by a man on State House Road in Nairobi. The incident occurred when the President was heading to State House from the KICC, where a two-day 9th African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) summit was held.

According to police, the suspect, Uvinalies Nyabuto, was arrested and taken to the Kilimani Police Station. His placard, which read 'Your Excellency, kindly offer [me] a chance to join the Kenya Defence Forces,' was also confiscated.

This is not the first time a Kenyan has obstructed the President's convoy. In January, Collins Ochieng Obado was arraigned in court after blocking President Uhuru's motorcade on Mama Ngina Drive in Mombasa.

Obado had carried a placard containing a portrait of President Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga. In mitigation, Obado said he was only looking for an opportunity to show the President a portrait and secure a job.

However, unlike Obado, Nyabuto's actions were met with a different response. The incident occurred on December 10, 2019, and the police took swift action to arrest Nyabuto.
