On December 10, 2019, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) made a significant breakthrough in their fight against counterfeit currency, recovering over Sh.1.5 billion worth of fake US dollars from a house in Pangani estate, Nairobi.
Acting on intelligence, the DCI detectives stormed the house at Eden House Flats in Pangani Shopping Centre and conducted a search, finding over 15 million in fake US dollars stashed in a black bag.
One suspect, 29-year-old Yassin Ahmed Osman, was arrested during the operation and detained pending arraignment.
According to a tweet by the DCI, detectives are pursuing the case to neutralize the entire chain of perpetrators.
