On December 6, 2019, Governor Mike Sonko was dramatically arrested at Voi, just hours after the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Hajji ordered his arrest.

Paul Kobia, a close ally of Sonko, has come out strongly against the arrest, claiming it is a pure witch hunt orchestrated by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

‘I am comfortable with being arrested by even three choppers. In fact, I would want the GSU, AP, and even army officers to be there during my arrest because I am prezda, I enjoy vipindi,' Kobia said in a video interview.

According to Kobia, Sonko's arrest is a result of his quick political rise, which has scared certain 'ungrateful' people who are now cutting his feet.

‘These people meeting in chang'aa dens are behind Sonko's arrest because he is a rising political figure who might be our next President,' Kobia revealed.

Paul Kobia also hit out at President Uhuru for quickly forgetting how Sonko has stood by him, especially in 2013 when President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto were facing crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court based at the Hague.

‘Sonko has sacrificed a lot for Uhuru, and it is a shame that he now has to go through this kind of humiliation,' Kobia sadly opined.
