Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam results are expected to be released next week, following the completion of marking by teachers at 20 stations in Nairobi and its environs.
According to Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha, the results will be out before Christmas, as he had previously promised.
Magoha made the announcement after visiting the marking centers, where he witnessed the efficient use of the conveyor-belt system, which ensures that examiners can only mark one question at a time.
The marking of the examinations started on November 28, a day after the last paper was sat, and was characterised by protests by examiners over poor pay and poor working conditions.
ICT experts at the centers are tasked with keying in the marks for easy processing, while the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) intervened to resolve issues at Upper Hill, Nairobi, and Machakos Girls.
It is worth noting that this year's KCSE exams saw 699,745 candidates sit for the exams, with 21 cases of exam malpractices being reported and 90 phones confiscated from candidates.
Additionally, 300 schools were put under watch following reports of planned cheating, with cases of examination irregularities reported in counties such as Nairobi, Kisii, Migori, Homa Bay, Wajir, and Garissa.
