Google released the top trending searches by Kenyans in 2019, featuring popular personalities, news events, and sports actions.

The late Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore topped the list of trending personalities, followed by Eliud Kipchoge after his sub-two hour marathon run in Vienna, Austria, on October 12.

Other trending personalities included late Benga musician John DeMathew, who died in a road crash on August 18, and late Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso, who succumbed to a 20-year battle with cancer.

Form one selection 2020 was the number one most searched item, followed by Huduma Number and the Likoni Ferry tragedy.

The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report, the Ethiopian Air Crash, and KCPE results 2019 also made the top trending searches list.

Under movies and TV shows, Game of Thrones Season 8 and Money Heist Season 3 were the two big TV shows that kept Kenyans curious of the coming episodes.

Other trending searches included blockbusters Avengers Endgame, Bird Box, and When They See Us.
