December 10, 2019 - Yanga FC, having secured the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom Coast regional title, is now setting its sights on the national finals slated for next year.

The team defeated Kaya Stars 4-0 in the finals held at Bomu Stadium in Mombasa, earning the regional title alongside Kwale Ladies.

Yanga FC head coach Abel Bellamy expressed his team's outstanding performance in the tournament, sending a strong warning to their rivals ahead of the national finals.

‘I am very happy for the win, my team really did a wonderful job. Scoring four goals in a tournament like this is not easy but I think it down to proper preparations. I am certain that if we continue working hard then we will similarly win the national title,’’ Bellamy said in an interview with Citizen Digital.

With the national finals set to take place at Bomu Stadium, Bellamy is banking on home advantage to help his team secure the title.

‘We already have an advantage of playing in our backyard and I believe it will give my players confidence going to the national finals,” added Bellamy.

Kwale Ladies head coach George Ojwaya is also optimistic about his team's chances of clinching the national title.

”I am very happy for the girls, reaching national finals is not a joke and thereafter I am looking forward for a good fight to be the national champions. I noted some few mistakes in my defence line but that’s some of things we will work on going to the national finals next year,” Ojwaya said.
