On December 10, 2019, the Employment and Labour Relations court delivered a ruling that upheld the impeachment of Kisumu's former Speaker Onyango Oloo.

Justice Nduma Nderi, in his ruling, stated that the impeachment was carried out in accordance with the law, and that Oloo was properly served with a notice of impeachment.

He was removed from office by 42 MCAs, and the judge dismissed the petition on grounds that it lacked merit.

Addressing the media after the ruling, Oloo expressed his dissatisfaction with the outcome, vowing to challenge the verdict at the Court of Appeal.

Onyango Oloo, a former Jubilee Party point man in Kisumu, was impeached on September 19, 2019, following allegations of abuse of office and unlawful suspension of MCAs.

The impeachment came after he was indicted by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission over the 2.5 billion shillings Lake Basin Development Authority Mall scandal.
