Meru Police Officers Arrested After Guns Go Missing

Three police officers in Meru County, Kenya, have found themselves in hot water after their guns mysteriously went missing from a police station.

According to reports, the officers, Peter Kithure, Geoffson Chepkwony, and Joseph Gitonga, were arrested on December 10, 2019, and are set to appear in court on December 11, 2019.

County Police Commander Lydia Ligami confirmed the arrests, stating that the guns were stolen from the Matabithi police station.

Ms. Ligami explained that the officers were arrested by GSU police, assisted by detectives from the DCI in Isiolo County, for losing their guns in an unexplained manner.

Ms. Ligami stated, "The three police officers were arrested and are being held for losing their guns in an unexplained manner."
