December 10, 2019 - Shabana FC's assistant coach Vincent Nyaberi says the team is focused on finishing their first leg fixtures on a high after a thrilling 3-2 win over Migori Youth.

The win, which was secured thanks to a Fred Nyakundi hat-trick, has boosted the team's confidence ahead of their final fixture in the first leg against FC Talanta.

'Our game against Talanta is a must-win because it will help us finish the first phase on a winning note,' Nyaberi told Citizen Digital.

Team manager Elijah Sani is also elated with the victory, saying it will motivate the players to work even harder.

'The team has been on a poor form recently, and the win was important as it helped the boys gain believe that they can win again,' Sani said.

Shabana's latest triumph saw them jump to ninth on the National Super League log with 24 points, level with eighth-placed Fortune Sacco who have a superior goal difference.

Initially, the team had ambitions of making the cut for the top-tier league, but their recent dip in form has seen such dreams go up in smoke.

However, Sani remains optimistic, saying the team is focused on finishing the first leg strongly and will train harder to make their dreams come true.

'All games in the NSL are very competitive, regardless of the position of your opponent on the log,' Sani said.

'The second leg will define our season. We understand things are tough, but we will train harder to make our dreams come true,' he added.
