Maisha Magic East is gearing up for an exciting new year with the premiere of two thrilling shows: 'Maisha Mkanda', a documentary series, and 'Kina', a drama.
Former KTN investigative journalist John Allan Namu, now the head of Africa Uncensored, will be a regular on-screen presence in 'Maisha Mkanda', which he will also produce.
According to MNET Director of East and Southern Channels, Timothy Okwaro, the company is investing in local content and talent to ensure the video entertainment industry in Africa thrives.
“Local content is a key differentiator for us, and we intend to continue producing more of it for our various markets. We will continue to shift a greater percentage of spend towards local content,” Okwaro said during the MultiChoice Group Annual Media Showcase.
'Maisha Mkanda' is a 13-episode documentary series that explores various topics of interest to the Kenyan public, including skin-bleaching, widow-cleansing, femicide, and surviving terror attacks.
Meanwhile, 'Kina' is a drama starring former radio queen and musician Sanaipei Tande as a tough villain. The show tells the story of a poor girl who takes on a powerful business magnate and uncovers a tragic tale of a mother and daughter.
