Kenyan, Sudanese nationals arrested, pistol recovered after Kikuyu robbery

On Monday night, police in Kikuyu, Kiambu County responded to reports of a robbery incident where a man was robbed of Ksh.3,000, an ATM card, and his mobile phone as he alighted from a matatu.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, detectives intercepted a 14-seater matatu being used by the suspects to escape after a robbery. The two suspects, Philemon Omboko Mwanza, 22, and Gout John Nyang, 23, were apprehended as they attempted to escape.

Both suspects are Kenyan and Sudanese nationals. The police recovered a pistol loaded with five ammunition from them.

During the escape, the three suspects opened fire, forcing police officers to fire in the air as they ran after the suspects. Two of the suspects were nabbed in the chase, while one managed to outrun the police officers.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing as the police search for the suspect who made away.
