On December 10, 2019, Harambee Stars made history by qualifying for the semi-finals of the 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup with a game to spare.

The team's thrilling comeback win over Sudan was a testament to their determination and skill, as they overcame a 1-0 deficit to emerge victorious with a 1-2 scoreline.

The match was a must-win for Sudan, who needed to secure a win to stand a chance of progression to the semis.

However, Harambee Stars had other plans, and they started the match with a sense of purpose, seeking to bury the game early.

Their efforts paid off at the stroke of the half-hour mark, as Muhammed Abbas Namir beat the offside trap to find the back of the net and give Sudan the lead.

But Harambee Stars were not ready to give up, and they pulled level in the 65th minute through Abdalla Hassan, who has been the star for Kenya in the tournament.

And in the 77th minute, Oscar Wamalwa completed the comeback for Kenya, providing an assist in the process.

With this win, Harambee Stars sealed their progression to the semis as the top-ranked side in Group B and will face the runners-up in Group A.

However, the team was handed a blow coming into the match after Francis Kimanzi was handed a two-match touchline ban for allegedly inciting his players to boycott the match against Tanzania.
