On November 5, 2019, Rose Wangari Nyoike took Mary Wamalwa to a Shanzu law court, accusing her of causing a nuisance in a residential area.
The accused, Mary Wamalwa, is the wife of Engineer Jacob Ruwa, the Executive Director of Kenya Roads Board (KRB). She is a Nurse employed by the County Government of Mombasa and stationed at Tudor Health Clinic.
According to the complainant's statement, Mary Wamalwa recently bought Plot No 3171/I/MN in New Nyali 4th avenue, where she is rearing cows in the residential compound.
However, the complainant, Rose Wangari Nyoike, who is asthmatic and lives next to the plot, claims that the presence of the cows has affected her health detrimentally due to air pollution and the stench from cow dung.
The complainant also alleged that Mary Wamalwa and her husband do not reside in the compound but regularly visit the home, and that they have dug a trench to store cow dung, which is a source of breeding mosquitoes and air pollution.
However, Mary Wamalwa denied the charges.
The case is scheduled to be heard on March 4, 2020.
