On Monday, a lion attacked and killed a man in Tuala, Kenya, in the latest incident to raise concerns about the Kenya Wildlife Service's (KWS) effectiveness in managing wildlife.
The attack occurred just a day after a lion was found eating the body of a casual laborer who had gone missing on Friday. The employer had launched a search operation, but it was not until Monday morning that the body was discovered.
Residents of Tuala have accused the KWS of ignoring their calls to deal with the lion, which has been responsible for killing over 30 dogs in the area.
"When we call the KWS people, they only come here and lie to us that they will get rid of the lion only for it to strike again," said Philip Kulankash, a resident of Tuala.
Despite the criticism, rangers from the KWS have reportedly intensified efforts to track down the killer lion.
