Published on December 10, 2019, a study on Kenyan marriages has shed light on a disturbing trend where many women prefer their pets over their husbands.
According to the research, a staggering 52% of married women in Kenya love their pets more than their husbands, leaving their partners feeling frustrated and neglected.
These women, it was found, dedicate most of their time and attention to their pets, often at the expense of their husbands. The study notes that this trend is even more prevalent among working women, who return home from work only to cuddle with their pets.
"Certain times you might be emotionally drained but your husband is busy with football and texting other women. During such moments, your pet comes through, ever loyal," an interviewee noted.
The study highlights the devastating impact of this trend on marriages, with many husbands suffering from depression, anxiety, and stress due to their wives' lack of attention and affection.
Experts warn that women who prioritize their pets over their husbands are often the primary cause of marital issues and depression in men. They stress that women should dedicate their time to their men, learning, appreciating, and tolerating each other's excesses and advising one another appropriately.
