Published on December 10, 2019, a study by the African Population and Health Research Centre (APHRC) has shed light on the alarming rate of post-abortion care in Nairobi.
According to the study, a staggering 64.4% of patients seeking post-abortion care in Nairobi are married women, leaving many to question the role of husbands in these situations.
Dr. Ken from Eldoret, a doctor with firsthand experience, corroborated the statistics, sharing a personal account of a married couple who sought his help for an abortion.
'I am a doctor from Eldoret, we pass through hell,' Dr. Ken said. 'Yesterday, a married woman and her husband visited me. She was five months pregnant, and they wanted to carry out an abortion on what would have been their 8th child.'
Dr. Ken further revealed that in a month, he receives 10-15 women seeking abortion, with 10 of them being married and accompanied by their husbands.
'Do not blame women because men are the ones who push them to do it,' Dr. Ken advised. 'That article is true, most women they must remove them to save their marriages.'
