Chile Military Plane Disappears with 38 Aboard

On December 9, 2019, a C-130 Hercules aircraft took off from Punta Arenas, Chile, bound for the President Eduardo Frei Antarctic Base with 38 people on board.

The plane, carrying 17 crew members and 21 passengers, lost contact shortly after departure, prompting a search and rescue operation.

According to the Chilean Air Force, the plane took off at 16:55 local time (19:55 GMT) with 38 people traveling.
