On Sunday, a disturbing video emerged of Nyeri Deputy Speaker Samuel Kariuki assaulting a young man at Giakanja Boys Secondary School in Nyeri.

According to eyewitnesses, the fight broke out between two political rival groups ahead of a fundraiser graced by Deputy President William Ruto.

The video shows Kariuki, who is allied to a group that supports DP Ruto, whipping the man with a wooden rod as other locals cheer him on.

Despite the man falling to the ground, Kariuki continues to strike him hard.

Central Regional Commissioner Wilfred Nyagwanga has confirmed that an arrest warrant has been issued against Kariuki, and all those involved in the fracas will be arrested and charged.

Police officers were forced to lob teargas canisters to disperse the youth, and at least 10 people were arrested during the chaos.

The fight was allegedly between supporters of Ruto and those of Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu.
