Kenya 7s centre Oscar Dennis will miss the Cape Town leg of the World Rugby Sevens Series after fracturing his cheekbone in a match against South Africa in Dubai.
According to Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) director of squads Ray Olendo, Dennis underwent surgery in Dubai and will not be available for the Cape Town tournament.
Olendo revealed that Kabras Sugar lock Dan Sikuta replaced Dennis for the subsequent matches in Dubai, and another player will join the team in Cape Town.
Geoffrey Okwach, a centre from Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), could travel to Cape Town, but the team is waiting for confirmation from head coach Paul Feeney.
Kenya Sevens will face Samoa, Australia, and Ireland in Pool 'D' of the Cape Town Sevens.
Shujaa finished 13th in Dubai after edging out Scotland 24-14, but lost to South Africa, England, and Spain in the Pool stage.
Olendo expressed satisfaction with Kenya Sevens' performance in Dubai and is looking forward to improved results in Cape Town.
Kenya finished 13th in Cape Town last year, collecting three points.
Olendo noted that the team is looking to match Samoa and Australia at the breakdowns and have a good day.
