President Uhuru Kenyatta's war on corruption has been a long time coming, and it's about time that those in power are held accountable.
As the President himself declared in June last year, his brother Muhoho should be arrested and charged if there was any truth to reports that he was involved in the business of importing contraband sugar.
However, despite this public declaration, there have been no indications that the Director of Public Prosecutions, Noordin Haji, and the Director of Criminal Investigations, George Kinoti, escalated the matter into an active investigation.
It's not just the younger Kenyatta who has been spared; Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's dramatic arrest on corruption charges is a stark reminder that no one is above the law.
The war on corruption will be won on convictions and jail terms, not just dramatic arrests and media stunts.
As Kenyans, we must recognize that graft presents a clear and present danger to the survival of our nation, and it's time for those driving the war to be supported by all.
But in return, they must repay the public trust by making sure the lords of corruption are thrown into jail, and demonstrate that there is no victimisation or political shenanigans in the arrests and prosecutions.
