Kenya's Allan Oyende Wins Nakuru National Scrabble Circuit

On December 10, 2019, Kenya's top seed Allan Oyende made a triumphant return to winning ways as he emerged victorious in the Nakuru national scrabble circuit at Stem Hotel in Nakuru.

With this win, Oyende secured his fourth victory of the season, bringing his total wins to 13 out of 18 matches with a cumulative winning spread of 1096 points.

Defending champion Onani Magwanga finished second with 12 wins and 516 points, while Manase Otieno from Nairobi secured bronze with 11 wins and 523 points.

Bernard Koyyoko, also from Nairobi, placed fourth with 11 wins and 515 points, and Benard Amuke closed the podium with a fifth-place finish with 11 wins and 438 points.

When asked about his performance, Oyende expressed his satisfaction with the season, stating, "It has been a very competitive year so far, which saw my closest rival Gitonga overtake me but I’m looking forward to fighting back before the year ends."

Wamucii Irungu emerged as the best lady in the circuit, registering seven wins, followed by Evelyn Gathoni.

Meanwhile, in the intermediate division, Limo Kipkemoi won gold with 14 wins and a cumulative winning spread of 669 points, while Tom Mboya finished second with 13 wins.

Jeremy Loromukai bagged the top prize in the open division with 14 wins and 1,355 points, while Christopher Musundi of Stima Club took silver with 12 wins.

Scrabble Kenya chairman Bernard Amuke reflected on the season, saying, "This was a successful season after achieving top-notch performance in the local and international scenes. We now seek to build on that ahead of the 2020 calendar."
