Kenyan marathoner Eliud Kipchoge and former Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore were the most searched individuals on Google in 2019, according to a list released by the search engine.
Other notable personalities who made the list include John DeMathew, Joyce Laboso, Ken Okoth, Tob Cohen, Governor Mike Sonko, Jonathan Moi, Ivy Wangeci, and Esther Arunga.
Game of Thrones, Money Heist, Avengers Endgame, Bird Box, When They See Us, and Sex and the City were among the most popular movies and series searched on Google in 2019.
Kenyan users also searched for how-to guides on various topics, including driving a manual car, filing tax returns, applying for a passport, and starting a business.
The list of top trending local personality searches also included Ken Okoth, Joyce Laboso, Tob Cohen, Ivy Wangeci, Imran Okoth, and McDonald Mariga, with Okoth and Laboso passing away from cancer in July 2019.
Top trending news searches featured the Form I selection 2020, the Likoni Ferry tragedy, the BBI report, and the Kibra elections, among others.
Internationally, searches for Zimbabwe's former President Robert Mugabe, musicians Oliver Mtukudzi and Nipsey Hustle, and footballers David Luiz, Bruno Fernandez, Dwayne 'the Rock' Johnson, Harry Maguire, and Nicolas Pépé made the list.
Phone-related searches, including tracking a phone number, taking care of a phone, and hacking a phone, were also popular in 2019.
Health queries, such as calculating BMI, losing belly fat, and getting pregnant, were also trending, as were sports searches, including the Africa Cup of Nations 2019 and the ICC World Cup 2019.
