On December 9, 2019, Jumia Travel announced a significant partnership with Travelstart, a leading online travel agency, to power its pan-African online travel booking portal.

Under the agreement, Travelstart will take control of the sales, fulfilment, and customer service aspects of Jumia Travel's online booking websites in all its operating territories.

According to Joe Falter, EVP of Jumia On-Demand Services, 'We have a strong belief in the potential of the online travel industry and travel portals in Africa and have built a strong platform across our markets to address this opportunity. In Travelstart, we have found the perfect partner to build on the success Jumia Travel has achieved so far.'

With this partnership, Jumia Travel aims to remain focused on its growth and path to profitability, while Travelstart will tap into new customers in emerging digital markets across Africa.

Travelstart, which operates in nine African countries, expects the partnership to help unlock high-quality online travel services for even more travellers in Africa.
