On Sunday, rival groups allied to the Kieleweke and Tanga Tanga factions clashed at Giakanja Boys Secondary School in Nyeri, resulting in a violent confrontation.
According to a video clip capturing the incident, Nyeri Deputy Speaker Samuel Kariuki, who is also the MCA for Ruring'u Ward and allied to the Tanga Tanga wing, was seen ruthlessly beating up a young man with a wooden rod as other locals cheered him on.
Confirming the arrest warrant, Central Regional Commissioner Wilfred Nyagwanga stated that all those involved in Sunday's fracas would be arrested and presented in court.
At least 10 youth armed with crude weapons were arrested during the chaos, which erupted ahead of a fundraiser where Deputy President William Ruto was the chief guest.
Police were forced to fire in the air and lob teargas canisters to disperse the youth, who were chanting pro-Ruto slogans as they set fire to t-shirts branded 'No 2022 politics.'
