On December 9, 2019, Simbi Roses Limited took a significant step towards sustainability by unveiling a 150kWp solar PV system in Thika, Kiambu County.

The ground-mounted solar system, consisting of 454 solar panels and 5 inverters, is expected to save up to 144 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.

According to Simbi Roses Executive Director Grace Nyachae, the new system will help reduce the company's overall power costs and carbon footprint.

Speaking during the unveiling event, Nyachae appealed to flower producers to implement more renewable energy systems to reduce carbon levels in the environment and operational costs.

Simbi Roses has established a reputation for modern and efficient crop management systems, high-quality control, and innovative practices such as propagating their own plants and using state-of-the-art irrigation and spraying systems.

The company currently produces over 13 different varieties of roses for the international market, including Bellerosa, Red Ribbon, and Vanilla Sky.
