On December 9, 2019, a fatal road crash occurred at Makindu, Makueni County, along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
A Toyota Noah vehicle, traveling from Nairobi to Mombasa, collided head-on with an oncoming truck, resulting in the death of one person and injury to another.
According to Makueni County Police Commander Joseph ole Naipeiyan, the vehicle was ferrying rolls of bhang, which fell off after the collision.
The driver, Vincent Otieno Ochieng', is receiving treatment at Mtito-Andei hospital, while the body of the deceased has been moved to Makindu sub-county hospital mortuary.
According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), eight men die in road accidents daily.
