Police in Butula are intensifying their search for a primary school teacher who allegedly beat up a 51-year-old watchman, Joab Odero, last week. Odero succumbed to his injuries on the same day.

According to Ann Atieno, Odero's widow, her late husband was a watchman at Butunyi Primary School. He had a confrontation with the suspect at a hotel in Butula, where the teacher had gone for lunch.

Atieno said her husband revealed the name of the teacher he accused of beating him and stepping on his chest. He told her that if he died, she should blame Chris, the teacher, for his death.

Butula Police Commander Richard Omanga confirmed that the search for the teacher was ongoing. He said, “We are still looking for him, once we arrest him he will be arraigned [in court].”

The body of the deceased was taken to Sega Mortuary, and burial preparations are underway.
