Published on December 9, 2019, a Kisumu woman's family has threatened to sue Aga Khan Hospital and its management over negligence allegations.

Brenda Akwacha, 28 weeks pregnant, walked into the hospital for a medical checkup but was brought out dead, according to her family.

Before her death, Brenda told a family member that she was advised by a doctor to be admitted due to her condition.

She was later admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and taken to a theater, where she met her death after an unsuccessful surgery.

The family claims that the hospital's ICU was poorly managed, with machines not working after a power blackout, and that the doctors and nurses ignored the patient until the next day.

When the family visited the hospital, they were met with resistance from the CEO and the doctor in charge, who allegedly refused to explain the circumstances surrounding Brenda's death.

The family had offered to hire more experts to save Brenda's life and airlift her to Nairobi for specialized treatment, but their pleas were ignored.
