On December 9, 2019, Airtel Kenya launched no expiry data and call rates, a move that follows Safaricom's similar offer on October 23, 2019. The new rates allow customers to spend as low as Sh1 for 5MB data and make calls at Sh2 across all networks.

Airtel's Managing Director, Prasanta Das Sarma, said at the launch event: 'We are pleased to introduce a no expiry rates for data and voice to all our customers. We have also revamped our data bundles to cater to heavy data users.'

The company revamped its entire Amazing data bundle offerings, providing more data for the same cost as before. For example, 3GB is now available for Sh300, up from 1.5GB, and 5GB is available for Sh500, up from 4GB, with 30 days validity.

According to Das Sarma, the new offers are 20 times cheaper than what customers are paying in other networks. He emphasized that even when data bundles expire, customers will be charged the same rate from their credit, starting at Sh1 for 5MBs and Sh2 for all calls across all networks.

These new data bundle and call rate offers come after lawyer Adrian Kamotho sued telecommunication operators for irregularly depriving consumers of their unused data bundles.
