Former Vice President Kijana Wamalwa's son, William Makali Wamalwa, has passed away at the age of 25.

According to his uncle, Robert Wamalwa, the young man died on Sunday evening at their Milimani home in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County.

Mr. Wamalwa dismissed claims on social media that Makali died of depression, alcoholism, and drug abuse, calling them 'far from the truth' and 'unfair.'

He stated that he was with his nephew the previous day and he looked fine, adding that the family suspects diabetes might have led to his death.

They are waiting for a postmortem report to confirm the cause of death.

Mr. Wamalwa told the Nation, 'My nephew was diabetic and that might have led to his death but, of course, when the official post-mortem report is out, we will know what happened.'
