The Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (ACP) is gearing up for its summit in Nairobi, Kenya, with Sudan participating in the preparatory meeting. The event, which began on Saturday, December 7, 2019, marks the launch of the 110th session of the ACP ministerial council.
At the meeting, the ministerial council is discussing key issues and has issued several decisions, including the appointment of Angolan Ambassador George Gitoki as the new Secretary General of the organization. He will succeed Dr. Patrick Gomez, the former Secretary General.
The council has also approved an amendment to the Georgetown Agreement, which will be put to a vote at the ACP Summit.
The Sudanese delegation to the ACP ministerial council is led by Ambassador Jamal Al-Sheikh, the General Director of the Foreign Affairs Administration at the Foreign Ministry. Other members of the delegation include Ambassador Mohamed Ahmed Taj-Eddin, Director of the Economic and Technical Cooperation Administration at the Foreign Ministry, Sudan Ambassador to Kenya Ghariballa Khidir, and Hamid Al-Jizouli, Plenipotentiary, Charge d'Affaires at Sudan Embassy to Brussels and acting envoy to the organization.
