On a night of celebration in Nairobi, Kenya's top mid-sized businesses were crowned at the 2019 Business Daily Top 100 companies gala, held on Thursday night.
The event, which marked the 2019 edition of the Business Daily Top 100 companies in the small and medium category, saw small and mid-sized firms in the transport, construction, and ICT industries dominate the top rankings.
Trueblaq Limited, a Nairobi-based events and marketing company founded by the late Kevin Ombajo, took the top spot in the small and medium category. Ombajo, who passed away two years ago after a six-year battle with a brain tumour, had undergone over 10 brain surgeries during his fight.
The other winners in the categories included Professional Digital Systems in ICT, Orange Pharma Ltd in Health, ASA Limited in Financial Services, and Lachlan Kenya Limited in Agriculture.

The Business Daily Top 100 SMEs Awards aim to recognize small and medium enterprises with an annual turnover of between Sh. 50 million and Sh. 100 million.
According to KPMG East Africa chief executive Benson Ndung'u, more than three quarters of small and medium-sized companies in Kenya are planning to hire more workers in the near future, citing high confidence in the economic outlook and growth prospects within their respective industries.
