Former Vice President Michael Wamalwa's family is in mourning once again following the untimely death of his son William Makali Wamalwa.
According to his uncle Robert Wamalwa, William passed away at their family home in the posh Miliman Estate, Kitale on Sunday evening.
Speculations on social media suggested that William's death was linked to chronic alcoholism and depression, but the family has vehemently denied these claims.
“It is far from the truth. It really is unfair and people should not capitalise on something like that. They should have a sense of decorum and respect to the family and the dead,” Robert Wamalwa told a local daily.
Robert Wamalwa revealed that his nephew was suffering from diabetes, which could have contributed to his death. The family will, however, wait for an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa, the family's de facto leader, has not issued a statement on the incident.
The Wamalwa family has been through a lot in recent years, including the death of their patriarch, former Vice President Kijana Wamalwa, in August 2003, and the passing of his widow Yvonne Wamalwa in January last year.
The family is currently embroiled in a bitter feud over inheritance.
