December 9, 2019, marked a significant day in Ligue 1 as Olympique de Marseille claimed their sixth consecutive victory, beating Girondins de Bordeaux 3-1 at the Stade Velodrome.

Despite Bordeaux's strong start, Marseille's second-half goals by Jordan Amavi, Morgan Sanson, and Nemanja Radonjic sealed the win, with Yacine Adli scoring for Bordeaux in the 31st minute.

Marseille's victory propelled them to 34 points from 17 games, trailing leaders Paris St Germain by five points. Lille secured third place with 28 points, while Bordeaux slipped to fifth with 26 points.

Valere Germain started up front for Marseille, replacing the injured Dario Benedetto, and Marseille's keeper, Dimitri Payet, played a crucial role in the win with his corner kick that led to Amavi's goal.

Elsewhere, Nantes beat Dijon 1-0 to move up to sixth place, and St Etienne suffered their second defeat under coach Claude Puel, losing 3-1 at Stade de Reims.
