December 9, 2019 - Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been brought to justice, facing graft charges at the Milimani Law Court.
Under tight police security, Sonko was transferred from the EACC headquarters and arrived at the court at exactly 7:55 am.
A heavily armed security contingent has been deployed around the court, with roads leading to the area sealed off and traffic redirected to adjacent roads.
On Sunday, Sonko urged his supporters to remain calm as he deals with his situation, following his arrest on Friday.
Police have warned his supporters planning to demonstrate that they will be dealt with accordingly.
According to reports, Sonko was arrested by DCI detectives in Voi, just hours after the Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji ordered his arrest.
The court proceedings are ongoing.
