On December 8, 2019, Harambee Stars head coach Francis Kimanzi was hit with a two-match ban by the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup organizing Committee.
The suspension was issued after Kimanzi was accused of allegedly inciting his players not to honor the opening match of the tournament against Tanzania on Sunday.
The match had a delayed kick-off of about 10 minutes due to a dispute over three Tanzanian players who did not have passports, a required pre-match document.
According to Team manager Ronny Oyando, Harambee Stars had yet to receive official communication from CECAFA regarding the suspension, and would wait for a letter before deciding on their next course of action.
