Kenya's martial arts team made a strong statement at the Mombasa Open international Tong Il Moo Do championship, held at the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa County, on December 07, 2019.
The two-day tournament attracted 14 countries, and Kenya's medal tally rose significantly from 20 to 57, showcasing their dominance in the sport.
Kenya's impressive performance earned them 17 gold, 19 silver, and 21 bronze medals, solidifying their position as a force to be reckoned with in the world of martial arts.
Reigning world mastership women's champion Lonah Abiero was a standout performer, bagging two gold medals in the individual special forms and women's sparring middle weight category.
Abiero's impressive display was matched by her teammates, with Susan Otanga winning silver in the women's sparring middle weight category, and Salma Ali and Ruth Njambi securing bronze medals each.
Kenya's dominance was also evident in the junior events, with Rodney Sumba, Jerameel Madmana, and Jephanny Bana emerging victorious.
