On Sunday afternoon, chaos erupted in Nyeri as rival groups allied to the Kieleweke and Tanga Tanga factions clashed outside Giakanja Boys Secondary School, where Deputy President William Ruto was set to preside over a fundraiser.
According to reports, police were forced to fire shots in the air to disperse the rowdy youth, some of whom were arrested with crude weapons, including knives and rungus.
Some of the youth were captured chanting pro-Ruto slogans as they set on fire t-shirts branded 'No 2022 politics.'
