December 8, 2019, marked a significant milestone in Kenya's political landscape as the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report was released. The 156-page document has sparked intense debate among politicians and citizens alike.

While some have hailed the proposal to reintroduce the Prime Minister's position, others have expressed reservations. Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi is among those who believe the move will usher in a new era for the country.

However, the lawmaker has a caveat - he wants the Prime Minister to have more powers than the one recommended by the report. This stance is in contrast to a section of politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto, who have declared their unwavering support for the document as it stands.

Kimani Ngunjiri, the Bahati Legislator, and Charity Kathambi, her Njoro counterpart, have praised the report's recommendations, citing their potential to guarantee sustainable security and create a conducive platform for free enterprise and equal participation in governance.

Interestingly, a group known as the Friends of Ruto in the Coast region has come out in support of the BBI report, dispelling rumors that they were against its recommendations.
