Published on December 8, 2019, a group of leaders in Kenya have questioned the effectiveness of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) recommendations in addressing post-election chaos.

Speaking at various churches in Makueni, Embu, and Nyeri counties, the leaders expressed concerns that the implementation of the BBI report would not solve the perennial problem of post-election violence.

Ms. Mwau emphasized that the BBI recommendations would not help solve the problem unless leaders who are defeated during elections concede defeat.

Ms. Jumwa criticized some leaders for being insincere in their calls for a referendum, stating that they were pursuing selfish interests.

Mr. Kuria noted that Kenyans know those behind chaos after every election and that BBI was not a solution to the problems facing the country during the electioneering period.

Mr. Musyoka expressed readiness to implement the BBI report, stating that it had not created any special seat for anyone.

Ms. Wahome called for a quick implementation of the BBI report to focus on the country's development agenda.

Deputy President William Ruto assured Kenyans not to panic over the implementation of the BBI report, stating that a consensus would soon be arrived at on the mode of implementation.

He also highlighted the progress of the Thwake Dam construction, which is expected to provide water for irrigation for more than 30,000 acres of land in Kitui and Makueni counties.
