On Saturday night, a multi-agency rescue team retrieved two more bodies from the rubble of the collapsed six-storey building in Tassia Estate, Embakasi Constituency, bringing the death toll to seven.

The rescue operation, which has been ongoing since the building collapsed on Friday, has been hampered by rain and the complexity of the rubble.

According to the Kenya Red Cross, 11 people remain unaccounted for and are feared to be still trapped in the rubble.

Despite the challenges, the rescue team, comprising of the Kenya Defence Forces, the National Disaster Management Unit, and the Kenya Red Cross, continues to drill through the layers of concrete slab and shells of the storeys stacked on each other.

Two survivors were rescued and taken to the Kenyatta National Hospital, bringing the total number of those rescued to 35.

Embakasi Assistant County Commissioner James Wanyoike said, 'We still don’t know how long this operation will take… We cannot say for sure.'
