December 8, 2019, marked a day when Gor Mahia coach Steven Polack came out in defense of his captain, Kenneth Muguna, amidst claims that the midfielder feigned injury to avoid playing for the club in the past three Kenya Premier League matches.

Polack dismissed the allegations, stating that Muguna was genuinely injured and has now fully recovered.

“Kenneth had an injury and he didn’t fake it as some of the fans are trying to imply. He has now recovered fully and that is why he is playing for Harambee Stars. I interact with this players daily and am sure he was truly injured,” said Polack.

Polack further stated that Muguna will return to play for Gor Mahia after the end of the Cecafa Senior Challenge, which is ongoing in Uganda.

It is worth noting that Muguna has been at the center of controversy, with a section of the fans blasting him for lack of respect and using the current financial situation to despise the club by faking injury as a way of protesting over delayed salaries.
