Murang'a University Student Arrested for Killing Estranged Lover's Son

On December 5, 2019, the mother of a three-year-old boy reported her son missing to the Murang'a Police Station. She claimed that her lover had taken the boy to his rental house near Murang'a University.

After the suspect went missing, the woman became curious and reported the matter to the police, leading to a search for the boy.

On December 8, 2019, detectives in Muranga arrested a 24-year-old university student for allegedly killing the boy. The suspect, a third-year criminology student at Murang'a University of Technology, led detectives to a thicket where the body had been dumped.

According to Murang'a County Police Commander Josphat Kinyua, the boy's body had severe injuries on the head and face. The suspect confessed to committing the crime, claiming that he was possessed by evil spirits.

“The suspect led our officers to the area where he dumped the boy's body after committing the crime, he claimed that he had been possessed with evil spirits. He will be charged with murder,” Mr Kinyua said.
