Published on December 8, 2019, Ivy Awino, aka DJ Poizon Ivy, has made history by being listed in the 2020 Forbes 30 Under 30 list.
The 28-year-old Kenyan-born DJ, who was born in Kenya and moved to the US with her family at the age of five, has made a name for herself in the music industry.
As the official NBA's Dallas Mavericks team entertainment manager, Ivy was listed alongside other young stars in the sports world, including Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner and Team USA figure skater Nathan Chen.
When asked about her achievement, Ivy said, “I’m just here to make my mama and Kenya proud,” in a caption accompanying a photo of herself celebrating her latest achievement.
Before becoming a renowned DJ, Ivy started deejaying at the age of 19 while in college and later relocated to Dallas after college, where she started working with the WNBA team.
She eventually landed the position of team entertainment manager with the Dallas Mavericks, a role she has been fulfilling with great success.
Earlier this year, Ivy bagged the Best DJ in East Africa Award at the Afrika Muzik Magazine Awards held in Texas in October.
