Ali Mufuruki, a renowned Tanzanian businessman and chairman of Infotech Investment Group, passed away on December 7, 2019, at Morningside Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa.
According to CEOrt Chairman Sanjay Rughani, Mr. Mufuruki fell ill while in Dar es Salaam and was rushed to The Aga Khan Hospital before being evacuated to South Africa on Saturday afternoon.
Mr. Mufuruki was a respected figure in Tanzania's business community, having founded the CEO Roundtable of Tanzania (CEOrt) and Africa Leadership Initiative (ALI) East Africa.
He also served as chairman of Mwananchi Communications Limited, a subsidiary of the Nation Media Group, and was a trustee of the Mandela Institute for Development Studies.
Mr. Mufuruki co-authored the book 'Tanzania's Industrialisation Journey, 2016-2056' and was a prominent figure in Tanzania's business and leadership circles.
