On December 7, 2019, a gunman attacked the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida, killing three people and injuring several others, including two deputies who were shot while stopping the gunman.

President Trump has promised to look into the procedure of accepting foreign military trainees after the attack. He stated that the government would immediately investigate 'the whole procedure' of accepting foreign military trainees.

King Salman of Saudi Arabia, the gunman's home country, will be involved in taking care of the families and loved ones of those killed and injured in the attack, according to President Trump.

Members of the community gathered for a vigil on Saturday, praying for the two deputies who were injured while stopping the gunman, as well as others who were injured in the gunfire.

Mike Dimick, the military pastor at Olive Baptist Church, spoke with one of the injured deputies, a 21-year-old military reservist who was shot in the arm. The young man had reminded Mr. Dimick about a conversation they had a year ago in Bible study, where an 18-year-old trainee had expressed her fear of being a target due to the location of the base.

President Trump's comments came as he was flying to South Florida on Saturday evening.
