On October 3, 2019, Thunder made a stunning comeback to defeat Emyba 3-1 in the semi-finals of the Kenya Basketball Federation men's Premier League title chase at Nyayo National Stadium.
Thunder's Kevin Chogo and Griffin Ligare led the charge with 23 and 22 points respectively, while Emyba's Thomas Kioko scored a match-high 25 points.
Emyba dominated the second quarter, scoring 23 points against Thunder's 12, and took a 42-33 lead at halftime. However, Thunder proved their strength by dominating the fourth quarter to score 22 points, 14 more than Emyba, and snatch the victory.
Thunder's win sealed their place in the finals and ended Emyba's fairytale run, which saw them reach the semi-finals on their first attempt.
